Read on to see what THE CASH BROTHERS' ANDREW CASH had to say in our BLUE HIGHWAYS questionnaire...
How the devil are you?
"Hmm... Is this a typo? Do you mean how is the devil in you? If so, the answer is "fine".
Interesting question though."
What was the first gig you ever went to?
"Underage at a club in Toronto called The Edge. But more influential than that was a band I saw
at a country fair when I was about eight. They were doing CCR tunes. The singer didn't have a shirt
on. That was it - I had found my life's calling!"
What were you like at school?
"Everyone was into Rush and Genesis, so I had to keep a low profile."
If you weren't a music star what would you be?
"That's like asking me if I wasn't a mechanic what would I be. I know nothing about fixing cars."
What is your most treasured material possession?
"Put that in the past tense. I had this German bicycle made in the 60s that, with the turn of a
screw, separated into two pieces. I had this plan to take it to every big city in the world and ride
it. I didn't realize it was worth anything until it was stolen."
What's the worst record you've ever made?
"That's a highly personal question, don't you think?"
When did you last cry and why?
"After making the worst record I ever made."
What's your poison?
"Procrastination and caffeine."
Pick five words to describe yourself.
"The two above, as well as dedicated, decisive, and adorable."
What's in your pockets right now?
"Two guitar picks, 26 dollars, a small note pad and pen, my driver's license, and a maxed-out
credit card."
Who was the last person you punched?
"Two fights - one in grade nine and one in grade ten, both with the same guy. Unfortunately I've
lost my notes as to whether I actually landed a punch."
What was the last record you bought?
"Shelby Lynne's last record, 'Tonight's the Night' by Neil Young (I returned it because, after I
got home, I realized I already had it), Macy Gray, and Moby. I tend to bulk-purchase."
What are you most likely to complain about in a hotel?
"Being unable to order food at 4am."
What characteristics do you think you've inherited from your parents?
"To be true to yourself."
What's your most unpleasant characteristic?
"Not being true to myself."
What's your culinary specialty?
"Lasagne."
What's your greatest fear?
"This question."
What music would you have played at your funeral?
"Great music performed by my friends."
What's the greatest film ever made?
"That's a hard one, but my brother - who has only seen five movies in his life - swears by Jerry
Maguire."
Can you recite a line of poetry?
"No, but my brother can quote one line from Shakespeare, which he only does in emergencies."
Have you ever been arrested?
"Nope. The closest I've come is speeding past a cop car on the highway. Once, also on the
highway, I was in the passing lane, and I had the stereo cranked. I was listening to the Tragically
Hip, and eventually I noticed a cop behind me with his flashing lights on. I moved to the other lane,
assuming I was going to be pulled over, but as soon as I changed lanes the cop just went right by
me - onward to fight other petty criminals, no doubt."
Happiness is...
"when we're all in tune at the same time."
Where are you off to now?
"Rehearsal with my brother for our upcoming European tour."
