The very first time I played 'Promised Land' by Alpha Omega I was overwhelmed by it's open atmosphere and light slow breaks. Until a very low and slow voice shattered my dreams. Wrong speed. But then again. With the right pitch this version of 'Promised Land' would do great in a Detroit techno or progressive Breakbeat set. But to be honest the drum&bass version of 'Promised Land' isn't so bad either. His numerous releases on top label Reinforced already highlighted his quality to hybridise genres like drum&bass, techno and electro. 'Promised Land' uses the openness, atmospheric synths and light breaks that are so typical for Detroit techno, but also adds some layers of deep basses and even, at the end, some ravelike elements and (out of tune) jazzy samplelines. Perfect track to dance to in a cold but shinny night. B-side. 'Devil's Advocate' is Reinforced stuff that goes back to the golden days of darkstep. Energetic hard breaks, deep basses, a minimum of melody or samples, and out of the blue some atmospheric synths and female vocals. Not very innovative but in the contemporary drum&bass landscape were Bad Company and friends program the rules, 'Devil's Advocate' stands out with its energy and style.
