Paul Chadwick and Karrie Lisa Price are active in the world of breakbeat since 1994. Backdraft is their first appearance at Botchit & Scarper with the drum&bass like track "Maniac" exploring the field round commercially successful acts like Kosheen. But "Maniac" is more direct, dark and experimental than the Kosheen material. The same goes with b-sides "The Reckoning" and "Demons". The first is a very interesting exercise into different kinds off breakbeat, rave and even some real cool sounding organic breaks in the middle. "Demons" is dark downtempo experimental breakbeat with a strange old elektro atmosphere dropped over it like a curtain. Not to mention the druggy sounding vocals. A bit like those progressive psychedelic American Westcoast breaks but then slightly different. Another cool sounding Botchit release. It must be in the food or something.
