The legendary Doctor Bob Jones delivers the first in a series of compilations for www.trustthedj.com, and a solid selection it is, indeed. Soulful and funky house grooves galore inhabit this album, with old and new − but all fresh − tracks by the likes of: East West Connection (representing with the percussive Rollin Drums mix of ‘Rollin'); Black II Basic (serving the smashing ‘Afro Samba Release’ with intense breakbeat craziness); the Spaniards, Wagon Cookin' (proving to be one of the most exciting newcomers on the scene with the percussive and jazzy ‘Primer Plato con Cuchara’); and Batidos (with a smooth but smokin' Ron Trent mix of ‘Tengo Sed’), to name but a few. The overall sound on the album is one that makes people feel good, which of course is to be expected from the good Doctor. Also, it's good to actually hear that it's real vinyl playing here, so no computerized mixing here. Yummie!
