In Holland there is a city called Eindhoven. Due to excellent albums and shows by bands such as Peter Pan, 7Zuma7 and 35007 (for a review of their latest EP see the review section), this town was re-named 'Eindhoven Rockcity'. Another member of this group of sleaze- and stonerrockers is Candybar Planet. With their excellent debut '32 Bitch' (released in spring '99) they proved to belong to the forefront of Dutch stonerrock. After a few years of building an impressive live reputation, the Candybars are back with a new EP. This self-titled EP had already been brought out by Drunken Maria on vinyl at the end of 2000, but can also be bought on CD now. On this EP the threesome end their search for the monster-riffs which dominated '32 Bitch' and present a more balanced sound. This change results in an abandonment of the real stonerrock-sound and an adoption of a heavy rock-sound blended with a more rock'n'roll feeling. And it works for them. On this EP they sound more divers and mature than their debut. While '32 Bitch' was a stonerrock-album they maybe couldn't top, this EP shows that Candybar Planet has more potential.
