There aren't many greatest hits-albums in my record collection. I solely buy them when I only like the hits of a certain band and not the whole albums. And that's not that often. Besides that, greatest hits-albums are too often strategic moves of record companies, just to cash out on a band's name. So what to do with a greatest hits album of Dog Eat Dog? It's been over 1 year since we heard from this band, that played a memorable set at the Dynamo Festival in 1995. The band delivered a very strong debut-album on a major label in 1994 ('All boro kings') and in a short time they became really big stars. Unfortunately, its successors, 1996's 'Play Games' and 1999's 'Amped', never became that successful. Dog Eat Dog lost their magic very fast. 'In the dog house' is the last Dog Eat Dog album on Roadrunner Records. So do we need this greatest hits-album? In fact not, although it's nice to have an overview of Dog Eat Dog's career. Besides hits like 'Isms' and 'Rocky', the album counts a lot of remixes, like the remix of 'No Fronts' and 'Who's the king'. The best part of the album definitely is the enhanced CD-part, which contains videos of 'No Fronts', 'Who's the king', 'Isms' and 'Expect the Unexpected'. But my advice: make sure you have their classic album 'All boro kings' in your record collection. I think that will do.
