It took Downer very long to record this album, their first for a major label. But when it finally got released, the band almost immediately decided to leave their label, Roadrunner Records. Fortunately, they left Roadrunner AFTER the release of this album, otherwise it probably wouldn't have been released at all. And that would be a pity. Not that this album is really brilliant, but it's definitely over average. The album has been produced by topproducer Bob Marlette, and the band show that they're capable of writing good songs. The video of 'Last time' even made it to music channels like MTV and the Dutch TMF. It's a great song, with some sort of 'slow-downed' hardcore (I really don't know how to describe it). It's a modern sounding album, which, besides 'Last time', contains great songs like 'Bi-Furious', opener 'Flex' and 'Curbed'. Unfortunately, overall almost every song of the album sounds the same, with the result that it's not a great experience to listen to the whole record in one turn. There's a lot of groove on the album (which is nice) and the vocals of vocalist J Scott are pretty to listen to. So listen before you buy it, and see for yourself if you're down with Downer.
