Dutch 'spookycore'-band Dreadlock Pussy are doing very well since the release of their debut-album 'Sharp Instead'. With a signing at Zomba Records for the next three albums and a video to be recorded very soon, Dreadlock Pussy are ready to conquer Europe and the rest of the world. On March 10 the band did a gig at Cafe Boulevard in Den Bosch, a city in the heart of the Netherlands.
The 'funkskametallers' of Concubine started off with an energetic set of... well... funkskametal? The band exploded right in my face with the first song they did, a very original song with a sound I never heard before.
Unfortunately, Concubine seemed to be unable to stay that innovative and original during the rest of their set. Although the band definitely has its qualities, Concubine still have to grow to survive. With more songs like the first one of this evening (a song that can be described as a blend of System of a Down, Incubus and Primus with synths), Concubine must be able to become at the same level as Dreadlock Pussy are right now.
Starting off with 'Altamira' (Hijo de Puta!) Dreadlock Pussy made clear they definitely belong to the top of the European 'spookycore'-scene (if there is one...). The band played every song of their debut-album supplemented with three new songs, which wouldn't be unbecoming on their album. If you like bands such as Korn, you definitely gotta check this band out, as there's no escape from the claw of this pussy.
