'I talk to the wind' was a song on King Crimson's first record, but in the case of this album, the wind talks to us. Hazard, aka Benny Nilsen, gave the wind a number of different voices on his new album, simply called 'Wind'. For composing the music on this album he used recordings from winds, air movement in trees, branches, grass, and hail or thunderstorms, and then manipulated them electronically. Musique concrte in its purest form. It resulted in an impressive, dark sounding album which isn't that far from Biosphere's ambient music, but in comparison to him, Hazard takes his music to a more experimental level. Abstract electronic drones which sound kind of alienating when you realise that these sounds were created by nature itself. For example, it truly is amazing when hearing that the electric discharge from thunderstorms can contain so much musicality as displayed here. The harmonics on this album are so stunning that it often will you leave you speechless, and the full effect this music has on the listener is hard to describe. What I can say about it is this: you need to listen to 'Wind' on good headphones, otherwise all the subtle nuances will be lost in the environmental sounds surrounding you. Once you do listen with headphones, sit back and relax, and - I know it sounds cheesy - let the music come over you, and be amazed and startled by the scheer beauty of this album. Recommanded material.
