Requiem for a band. Due to a minor mistake the Loud staff got a bunch of old Burning Heart albums, but
we'll review them anyway. One of those old releases is No Fun At All's 'State Of Flow'. Not only is this
album more than a year old, the band even doesn't exist anymore; they split up early this year.
That's a shame really, because No Fun At All always had good songs with catchy choruses and meaningful
lyrics. There somewhat rockier than average sound positioned them somewhere between pop-punk, but without
the fart jokes, and grunge-lite, but without the pathos. The best of both worlds, so to speak. Not that
that made their albums essential buys necessarily, but they were always worth a listen. Exactly the same
goes for 'State Of Flow', which as an added bonus has a very nice cover. Songs like 'Second Best',
'My Extraordinary Mind' or 'Perfect Sense' just scream "radio hit", still somehow No Fun At All never
made it. Probably because of lack of good looks or backing by a major record company or something banal
like that.
It's a hard and unfair world.
