"It's the resurrection, the resurrection of the hardrock groove, hardrock groove." ('Resurrection')
Four clicks and a stomp in the face, that's the first second of Peter Pan Speedrock's fourth full-length album. And it's their best so far. PPS has managed to fill this CD with only high quality rockers. The balance between the rock 'n' roll of AC/DC, the sleazerock of Motörhead, the punk of Zeke and rocka-/psychobilly has never been better. While their earlier CD's (and here I'm concentrating on their more rock 'n' roll minded albums 'Rocketfuel' and 'Killermachine') all had the problem that really good songs had to take turns with lesser ones, this CD is packed with tracks that all have a distinctive force of their own. That's why it's not weird that the two best songs of the 1999 'Homesteel' EP ('Motörblock' and the fearfully fast 'Auf Der Axe') get a rematch on this album. But other songs like 'Donkeypunch', 'Resurrection' and 'BadYearForRock&Roll' are also all instant live-hits (and that's where this band is at its best, dear readers!). Not only have PPS improved their writing skills, they've also got better technically: guitar solos are more bedded into the song and the background vocals have improved a great deal. And in keep with their tradition PPS have made one song that can instantly be labeled as a PPS-singalong classic. Was it 'Megadetitas' on 'Rocketfuel', 'Auf Der Axe' on their EP and 'Rockcity' on 'Killermachine', now 'Hellaluja!' takes over that torch. This surely is the resurrection of the hardrock groove! And it's served delightfully loud. Bottoms up!!
