Bands like Fetch, Malkovich, and Darwin, to name a few of the Dutch underground emotional screamo-hardcore scene, were on command for awhile. Recently a new band started spreading the seeds with their creative minds. Brabant's Witness The Fall just released their self-titled debut MCD, a technical tour de force. The opener Nameless, The Dawn Of A New Age is really something. Witness The Fall definitely show their musical capability on this five-song debut. Besides cutting guitar riffs and a penetrating quality of the bass, some acoustic parts vibrate the speakers. All this is covered with a screaming, hoarse voice that makes it flow from aggressive to emotional parts, and vice versa. A surprise on the album is the third song Gunbatimi: It's just a short intermezzo that sounds like Indian music. It doesn't make any sense but contributes well to the entity. As with any band, it's always hard to describe its musical creation. Witness The Fall's music shares some features of bands like Forstella Ford, With Arms Still Empty, and previously mentioned Dutch band Darwin. I would label those bands as full of spunk. So beware! Unfortunately, we have to do with this MCD for some time, but hopefully a full-length will appear at the counter soon. Try and get this self-titled release.
