Some music can only be made by the Japanese, like noise. Xinlisupreme is Japanese. Xinlisupreme is noise. And Xinlisupreme kicks ass! As you can already deduct form the above lines, Tomorrow Never Comes is a great album and Xinlisupreme a fantastic band. It's incredibly intense noiserock, something like My Bloody Valentine meets Merzbow. Once you're really listening, there's no possible escape: the excitement and intensity is almost physically present. Underneath the huge walls of distortion, there are real, melodic songs, just like the above mentioned My Bloody Valentine. But Xinlisupreme goes much further in terms of sonic experimentation and bizarre soundscapes. It gives you quite an unsettling feeling when listening to it really loud when you're at alone at home. Luckily, after this frightening nighmare that is called Symmetry, a beautiful popsong in New Order style (in a Merzbow remix, to be more accurate) comes along with the title All You Need Is Love Is Not True. Xinlisupreme adds to the noiserock things like cut up drum'n'bass rhythms, abstract electronics, and an almost minimal music approach when it comes to repeating patterns. Tomorrow Never Comes is not easy, very demanding, at times even very inaccesible, but in the end it is definitely rewarding.
