Who cruised the clubs lately and how did good/bad was it?!?

Chariot, de Vlerk, 13 February 1999.
It is a fact: Chariot is a rarely known band. For that reason only about 40 people showed up at de vlerk last night for a evening of guitarpop. Chariot is formed around drummer Brian Young (ex-Posies, Fountains Of Wayne), who started the project based upon a dream he had about a race like in Ben Hur. This evening he was accompanied by Jon Auer (also Posies) among others and it was therefore more than logical that several Posies songs (like 'Flavor of the Month' and 'Dream all Day') and Fountains (Sink to the Bottom) were played.
Wearing black rodeo cowboy hats they did some tracks taken from their debut album "I am Ben Hur".

After the show there was some time for Questions+Answers:
Will you be involved with Chariot in the future?
[Jon Auer] No , I just replace Ken while he's on tour with R.E.M. I don't have any input on this album at all ....it' s just fun. Did you ever see me wearing a hat?
What about the collaboration with other ex-Posies members?
[Jon Auer] Well I have a project with Joe Skyward called JEAN JACKET SHOTGUN but it's not too serious, we worked on some songs but after 3 months we were busy with other things. Joe is now a full member of SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE and also busy with his solo album.
So nothing with Ken or Brian?
[Jon Auer] No but I spend some time with Brain during his writingproces for FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE and he got a lot of compliments about his songs, they are really fantastic.
Can we expect a Jon Auer solo album, cause last year there were some rumours about your band called LUCKY ME.
[Jon Auer] YES !!! My soloalbum will be released in September (SONGS FROM THE YEAR OF OUR DEMISE) and I already did some soloconcerts in the past. It's pretty in the same tradition as my Posies songs, cause I can tell you that I wrote 70 percent of Amazing disgrace and Succes.
Could you tell something more about the Posies CD-box?
[Jon Auer] It will be released at the end of this year, and Ken and I spend 2 weeks with listening and editing. It contains 5 CD"S with livestuff, demo's en unreleased songs.
And that's it, no more Posies ever ? Cause Joe told me that there might be a reunion in the future?
[Jon Auer] I really don't know, the Posies are over, but i don't say that I never do another Posies gig...........
Since you're doing the Chariot homepage and have a page yourself, could you explain what the Internet can do for bands?
[Brian Young] I think it is really great, people can catch up on us from everywhere and it is easy to communicate.
So how do you feel about the whole mpeg3 thing?
[Brian Young] I think it is no good that people distribute complete cds via the internet, I say it should only stick to samples of tracks.
What's been played in the tourbus the last couple of days?
[Brian Young] That will probably be 'Labito', a great band from Norway and 'Autopulver'.
If you'd had to choose between your three projects, Fountains of Wayne, Posies (even though they are no more) and Chariot, which one would it be?
[Brian Young] Fountains of Wayne for sure.
