So what has been happening in the music-scene lately?? TKMYL surfed the net for all of you and brings you all the lastest interesting stuff:

  • After doing a show with his side-project New Wet Kojak, Scott McCloud (frontman of Washington DC based Girls against Boys) explained to TKMYL the reason for cancelling the GvsB shows in Vera and the melkweg later this month: big trouble with (major) label Geffen. McCloud suspected to be dropped by Geffen later next week. But, as it now looks like, GvsB will be moved to Interscope, meaning they're not being dropped and can go on with their normal schedule of writing, recording and touring.

  • For those of you visiting (or living) in the UK the last weekend of april and having some spare cash, this is the place to be: BOWLIE WEEKENDER. This superb programmed festival has a bill with names like Pavement, Belle and Sebastian, Cornelius, Delgados, Mercury Rev and much more.

  • Radio 3voor12 reported that this year's London Calling is held on 3/4 april on 4 stages. Catatonia and Ultrasound were unconfirmed rumours...stay tuned.

  • TMF started broadcasting the 'alter8' show again, from now on (pretty cool) hosted by the brothers Deweale from Soulwax. "And now the videos from the SUPER-alternative bands REM and Garbage". You can send requests to alter8@tmf.nl.

  • Life Of Agony kicked out the last year recruited Ugly Kid Joe frontman and are currently not looking for a replacement.

  • The (oh-so-great) Posies have left us, but there is some light at the end of the tunnel: The Posies 3 CD box of unreleased material, demos, live recordings will be out late 1999 on Notlame Rec.

  • There were already some rumours and those who have been visiting the Melkweg lately have seen something already: Melkweg's 'Oude Zaal' is going under construction and will be transformed into a '013'. More new on the press-conference february 23rd.

  • March 16th will KINK FM broadcast a Blur concert, recorded 2 days earlier in London.

  • Underworld made the track 'kittens from their forthcoming release Beaucoup Fish for one day available in mp3 on their site www.dirty.org. For those who couldn't make it that day: click here. Underwold will be broadcasted by Sonicnet 17 February at 9.00pm (GMT) and will be repeated at 1.00am (GMT) on Thursday 18 February. Also will there be a launch party 18 Ferbruay @ da melkweg.

  • Because of pre-sales buro pinkpop 'leaked' a couple of names for this year's Pinkpop festival (23-24-25 may). Alanis Morrisette, K's Choice and Soulwax are booked for the fest. A press-conference will be held on February 23rd announcing more names...we'll keep you informed....Rock Werchter also released 2 names: REM and metallica.

  • The korn family media circus shows in belgium and ahoy are cancelled.

  • 10 years Dutch HipHoppers Osdorp Posse: check their first video (DEF P with long hair ;) at a dedicated VPRO OP site.

  • Boo Radleys split after a decade..."We have done what we had to do and it was time to move on..." (listen to 'Free Huey' from 3voor12).

  • And last but not least: download your Placebo screensaver (Win95/98) here.

  • Portland US based Dandy Warhols will release a new album late spring (May).

  • 3 Colours Red just released their second album, 'Revolt' on February 8th 1999.

  • Belgium's gods (dEUS) will release their third album "The Ideal Crash" in march, first single will be "Instant Street" and a official site is under construction: www.theidealcrash.com. 2 gigs in Holland are scheduled for april. And for if you listen very carefully: VPRO's 'het lek' has already several times broadcasted the new track 'Sister drew'.

  • Manic Street Preachers released their third single "The Everlasting" this week. The CD-maxi number 2/2 in this serie and features live material and is what the record company calls a limited edition.

  • Scottish Mogwai will release their new album, 'Come On, Die Young,' at the end of March. BTW: during the NME chat-session, Mogwai reveiled that they will be headlining this year's Glastonbury.
