Sniff, and you'll have just about ruined the moment, and breathing is simply out of the question. Low seem to have convincingly taught us the fine art of silence. Dreamily hazy and feverishly chilling, Americans don't have to make a noise and be blessed with suavity to succeed, for Low are the sole creators of subtlety.
Forgiven for believing the sound check was in full swing, the shuffle of feet grinds to a hush. Blessed are thee for expecting haste, Low don't do things quickly, but the swift beauty of 'Sunflowers' and 'Dinosaur Act' reverberate, soliloquise and effortlessly glide. Quiet is the successor of the exquisite.
Alan Sparhawk gushes 'Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me' and it's genuinely smoother and calmer than Morrissey's Vauxhall, but understated for absorption. Forever driven into the unknown, yet masters of melody, Low were going to be famous, but then, well, I'll leave you to work it out...
