It doesn’t get much more personal and silent than with Anamude. The mysterious woman behind Anamude is Ana Hortillosa and it was M. Ward who discovered her.
The warmth in Ana’s childlike voice and primitive acoustic guitar play reveal all her beauty and honest emotion, as well as her love for the works of John Fahey, Robert Johnson and William Shakespeare, while others would put her in the same category with Songs: Ohia, Will Oldham and Timesbold. Some of you might even think of Anamude as an acoustic Moldy Peach, but only if you ever saw The Moldy Peaches live on a small stage.
This little record is a simple and low-budget 4-track recording that was recorded in June of the year 2001. The six tracks on Urban Comfort are anchored by a beautiful trilogy of the title song (Urban Comforts #1, #2 and #3). And this is exactly what you are after if you are looking for new and adventurous folk songs.
