Bherman is a great songwriter from Belgium with a very annoying voice. This about sums up the mini-album 'The Row'. All seven songs here are well-written, with beautiful arrangements played by Belgian top musicians. References? Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, and sometimes a touch of Sinatra swing. Lyrically, Bherman also is more than competent. But then he starts singing. Not only is he all over the place, but he has an awful-sounding voice too. As long as he stays in the low range of his voice on the slower songs, it is bad, but still listenable. The real torture comes on the more uptempo tracks, where Bherman tests the higher ranges of his voice and the limits of his listeners' treshold of pain. Please Mr. Bherman, shut up and don't spoil the music!
