Based in Hull, Fila Brazillia are known for their mix of funk, hip hop, dub and even some samba. Dave Mc Sherry and Steve Cobby make trip-hop you can dance to or chill out to. Apart from releasing their own records (like the fantastic Power Clown), they also have a reputation for making remixes. Radiohead even asked the duo to remix 'Climbing up the Walls'. With Brazillification they gathered a collection of 18 remixes, which includes the Radiohead remix as well as some unreleased tracks like Moloko's 'Lotus Eaters'. Ranging from the divine 'Cotton Wool' (Lamb) to the remix of Orbºs 'Toxygene', all the tracks flow on a gentle groove. To appreciate the Fila Brazillia sound fully, you do need headphones so you can notice the subtle touches they add. You also find an unreleased remix of UNKLE's Berry Medication. For those who remember UNKLE's last disappointing record Psyence Fiction, Brazilification is more cohesive. The remixes flow gently together, which shows you how much Fila Brazillia managed to put their own electronic stamp on the material. If you liked the trip-hop compilation Headz II, this will be right up your alley.
