A lot of good things can be said about Boston trio Lamont. That they have a nice website for instance. An
excellent bio. The right rock 'n' roll attitude: "Get smart, dumb it down!" The right sources of
inspiration, like the Cult (whose 'King contrary Man' they cover) and Corrosion Of Conformity. A good, fat
sound. And some pretty good riffs.
Now if singer/guitarist Pete could actually sing and the band wouldn't mess up, 'Population 3' might have
been a decent album. Since however Pete's vocal style resembles that of a drunken hooligan doing karaoke to
celebrate shouting his team to a victory earlier, the band suffers from "guitarist-gets-carried-away-during-
solo-and-doesn't-notice-the-rhythm-section's-somewhere-completely-else" syndrome and they are fond of
rhythm changes but not very good at executing them smoothly, 'Population 3' is crap. And riffs nor
production can save it from being crap. Let alone the mangling of a Cult classic.
