What a waster what a fucking waster. The previous Ours album had some brilliant tracks on it, with a head role for Jimmy Gnecco, who sung like he was chasing a giant amplitude. Intense is the right word. Like how he screamed out at the end of 'Falling Souls' or went from high to low on 'Drowning' and 'Miseryhead.' But it had to be said: Some tracks really overwhelmed the others. However, Ours was more than just a good promise, because they had already done something impressive. But the media didn't think that way, and in almost every article they punished Gnecco for his resemblance to Thom Yorke and, moreso, Jeff Buckley. And I guess that made him decide to, well, sing differently. Whereas you're left exhausted and overwhelmed after track one of the first album Distorted Lullabies, the opening track this time is called 'Kill The Band' (appropriate? read on), and makes you wonder if it's still the same singer. The description this time is: monotonous and superfluous, especially the unexplainable screaming this time. Another sad fact is that, throughout the album, you still hear certain residual traits of the band. 'Realize,' 'If Flowers Turn,' and especially 'In A Minute' are some of the shadows from the "old" Ours. But all of those shadows are faded on unexplainable and forced tracks like 'Femme Fatale' with its elementary school refrain, and 'Disaster In A Halo' that doesn't lead to anything. But all the time you keep wondering: Why did he decide to sing differently? And where did the power of the band go? Because all the things we hear on Precious from this 'new' Ours can lead to only one conclusion: Kill the band!!
