All the way from? Los Angeles.
File under? Richard Ashcroft, Ours, U2.
The first track Last Song On Earth? Is a little frightening, because it does sound like it could have been a track on the Richard Ashcroft albums, which are never really exciting.
Do they make up for it? In the beginning they do, because fortunately the album gets better on Plum and Quasi-dead, which are also as safe as your bank account in Switzerland.
Is "safe" always bad then? Oh no, not at all. No one will call Coldplay experimental, but A Rush Of Blood To The Head is beautiful. Safe and sound.
But this time? It is hard to make an album full of golden melodies, but most of the time a few of them are also very helpful. Sub.bionic hasn't got any, and they do need some to attract any possible attention.
Does Sub.bionic have any potential? I think they do, because the singing of Jimmy Tuckett is constant and good. A twist or a producer who kicks their asses can make them rock more like they do on Phonophobic or Nuclear Bomb Parade. More of that, and I'm happy to give them another chance.
But so far? To use an understatement: This album won't reach any year lists.
