Suimasen (Japanese for We Don't Suck) hail from Eindhoven, a Dutch town that prides itself not only as the seat of electronics-giant Philips (of CD-I and Video copyright fame) and for being home to some of Holland's hardest rocking bands (like Candybar Planet and the now defunct 7Zuma7 from which 2 members went on to form Suimasen). But with other Eindhoven bands specializing in straight-for-the-jugular raw and uncut 9-Pound Hammer style rawk, Suimasen has a more sophisticated and refreshing approach. It's all about creating atmosphere, building and sustaining tension rather than exploding. In terms of melody Motorpsycho comes to mind and that's no accident (once a psychonaut, always a psychonaut and Peter Kloos was involved with the production) but they definitely have their own particular sound thanks to the sober production and a spacious post-rock feel to the songs. Think Pele or an uptempo version of Tarentel. All in all one of the more interesting acts in The Netherlands at the moment and definitely a draw for the label Partners In Crime that's building quite an interesting roster of new bands.
