A title like The Haunted Made Me Do It suggests a retro garagerock album, especially when the band is from garage-rock heaven Sweden (with a Danish drummer). Indeed, The Haunted go back to old-times, but not to the Detroit of the late 60's, but to the Bay Area of the late 80's. For The Haunted are a trash-metal band. And it's time for some serious head-banging, for The Haunted is a trash super-group, consisting of a.o. former-members of At The Gates and Face Down. The good thing about their retro-style is that they opt for classical song structures, with melodic parts (especially in the guitar solos), which makes 'Made Me Do It' much more varying than most modern trash albums. Slayer is the fist name that comes to mind and while The Haunted of course are not up to the level of the Gods themselves, they do come close. The only thing that misses are riffs and hooks that are great instead of just very good. On the other hand: The Haunted's guitarists do know how to make a great guitar solo without breaking every rule in music theory.
