A 3LP/2CD breakbeat extravaganza sure to please the occasional partaker of the cut-and-paste mayhem thingy and die-hard connoisseurs alike. Sure, 'Tipper Presents Sound Off' relies rather too heavily on old-school rave freak outs and your average Fuel-style distorted bass to qualify it as a ground-breaking record, but then, on occasion, it can be nice to just enjoy a mayhem of typical dance-oriented sounds mixed together by a knowledgeable musician or DJ, so let's not whine about how this record is "sooo 20th century", shall we? After all, most records that are "sooo 20th century" aren't as well executed as this: The snares possess just the right amount of crispness, the basses pummel you exactly where they should (the lower abdomen area), and the squelches and bleeps will put a smiley on your face even if you haven't just swallowed two handfuls of E-tabs. So let's all just say "up with retro" and dance our asses off to the electro frenzy that is Tipper.
