Some bands hardly add anything to already existing bands. But that doesn't have to be a problem if their records are very good. Rising is not a bad record, but it's not very good one either. The crossover funkrock of U.F.A. is influenced by bands like the Urban Dance Squad, Rage Against the Machine and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As a consequence U.F.A. sounds like a combination of those bands, but without really adding something. Worse - their rhythms are often to clich? funk (e.g. 'Everybody knows'). I prefer the original crossover bands as well as advanced and good clones over U.F.A. Here the comparison with a band named 'I Witness' might be nice. U.F.A. and I Witness are both Dutch bands influenced by the same crossover - the difference being that I Witness adds something to their heroes. Their 'Practice what you preach' CD (1997) is played and produced better, is more energetic and humorous. For example, in one of their songs with a lot of social criticism they freely quote Rage Against the Machine by questioning: "And anger's a gift. Is anger a gift?! Is anger a gift?!?!" Besides, I Witness' raps are better, their guitars and drums rock more and their rhythms are not so cliché. ·Ohh, and just forget about U.F.A.
