I suppose the fact that they released this record on 'Volumen Records' should have warned you a little bit about the quality of the record. But that it would have sounded this bad? It sounds like you are listening to them playing in your bathroom. But let's not judge them on poor production-qualities. Judging them on their bio would be unfair either (although nowadays it's not exactly funny anymore to write "One such theory [of their origin] suggests that they are extra-terrestrials whose space pod broke down just outside of our podunk planet while they were in the midst of an intergalactic tour"). Let's judge them on their music then...Err, at times they are irritatingly silly (like in "Miniature Action Jesus" and "Volumen Theme"), at times they sound like Bis in their early years ("Battle For Chromozon"), only worse (and that is the best track on the album!), at times they horribly try to imitate Joy Division ("Something For The Monkey") and many times they remind me of Pavement, only, well, worse. Surviving listening to this record will be a major achievement, as really it is nothing but a very irritating, silly and childish record, and not really a contender for 'record of the decade'. Unless it is a 'worst record of the decade' competition.
